TASTING NOTE:
The ROYAL GALA Cider has natural apple complexity, sweetness and acidity – just like the apples picked from the tree.
The early in its release the Royal Gala has a beautiful balance of fresh fruit characteristics that fill the mouth and lift it with gentle natural acidity. The optimum Cider comes into its own after 6 months in the bottle maturing into a rich golden coloured, low bubble profile gives this small batch Estate Grown Craft Apple Cider natural structure and great length.

VARIETAL NOTES:
One of the most widely grown apple varieties in the world, and a mainstay of the supermarket apple selection – not least because it is available year round from northern and southern hemisphere suppliers.
One of the unique features of Gala is that it can be grown with good quality results in both temperate and warm apple-growing regions, and it is generally regarded as a low-chill variety (i.e. it can be grown in regions which experience less than 800 hours of cool winter temperatures a year).
Royal Gala is a cross between Kidd’s Orange Red and Golden Delicious – a highly promising start.  Bearing in mind that Kidd’s Orange Red is the offspring of Cox’s Orange Pippin and (Red) Delicious, Gala is effectively a union of three of the world’s most important and distinctive apple varieties.  Perhaps the flavour does not quite live up to that promise, but this is still a high quality apple with the potential to deliver really good flavour, particularly when home grown.

ORCHARD NOTES:
The Estate grown, hand pruned, hand picked apples were established in the 1980’s by the Jachmann family. These apples, since then have been sold as premium packed apples across the country and during picking season, the family property is transformed into a farmers stall where many locals and visitors visit the orchards as part of their shopping destination. Today as well as sold as a packed apples, the Jachmann family have developed a range of Craft Cider to continue the popularity of the unique flavour and mouthfeel of each apple variety.
